Creative Activities
Our students benefit from a variety of expression activities, where they can think creatively, work together, learn new skills, exercise their perseverance and express their identities and thoughts.
Creativity and Culture
Students try out a wide range of activities across fields such as art, music, dance and drama, using purpose-built facilities such as our music rooms, amphitheatres and exercise studios. They gain experience not only in their chosen activities, but in teamwork, perseverance, responsibility and leadership as they specialise during their senior years.
At AKA Mombasa, students participate in a range of clubs and enrichment activities that encourage them to express themselves. While activities take place according to demand, availability or student initiatives, in recent years, students have been able to participate in:
- LAMDA
- TEDx
- Instrumental music lessons
- Various choirs
- M.A.D.D Night
Mind Over Matter
“Mind Over Matter (MOM) is a yoga enrichment I created to support students’ mental, physical and spiritual well-being. The name reflects the power we have over ourselves mentally, which, along with flexibility, is at the core of what I aim to promote.
Running MOM has taught me responsibility and pushed me to keep students engaged, especially since virtual enrichments are optional. It has also helped me develop teamwork and leadership skills as we learn from one another. I look forward to leading MOM in person and introducing new elements like yoga dances.”

Student Releases Uplifting Song
Ayaan Allarakhia, a Grade 10 student at AKA Mombasa, released an uplifting original song titled “Unaweza”, meaning “You can”, written to inspire hope during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
“I wanted to encourage people and remind them that better days are ahead and that we should have faith instead of giving up,” Ayaan said.
The song features local artist Shamir Tadeiya, who also served as producer, and is accompanied by a video filmed entirely on the Academy’s 18-acre campus. Starring students and teachers, the video has received nearly 12,000 views on YouTube. Ayaan discovered his passion for music at the age of four and later began composing his own songs through music classes. He credits the Academy with giving him opportunities to perform at school events, helping him build confidence and collaborate with others.
