Fees and Financial Assistance
Find out about the fees charged by the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa and how to apply for financial help if you need it.
Our Fee Structure
We offer an outstanding educational experience on an extensive campus, with numerous extracurricular facilities and an optional residential programme. The fees listed below include tuition, stationery and use of the academic, sports and other facilities.

- Sibling Discount: 5% off for the second child, 10% for the third, and 15% for the fourth and beyond. Not available if receiving financial assistance.
- Payment Schedule: Tuition fees for 2025–26 are paid in two equal instalments due by 15 July and 15 December.
- Early Payment Discount: 3% off tuition if paid in full by 15 July (after other discounts). Not available with financial assistance.
- AKDN Discount: AKDN employees receive 20% off residential fees and 5% off day student fees.
- Currency: Fees can be paid in US dollars or Kenyan Shillings. Exchange rates apply and may change.
Tuition Fees and Discounts
- A 3% monthly surcharge applies to fees unpaid after 30 days. Students unpaid one month after the deadline may be barred from classes and activities.
- Residential students unpaid for two weeks after suspension may be sent home.
- Students absent for over four weeks due to unpaid fees may be asked to withdraw.
- The Academy may withhold results, certificates, and transcripts until all fees are paid.
Late and Outstanding Fees
- New students may apply for financial aid after admission confirmation. Current students must apply by 15 March 2024.
- An independent committee reviews and approves all assistance requests.
Financial Assistance
- Three months’ written notice is required for student withdrawal. Without notice, three months’ fees are due.
- Clearance and release of documents require all dues to be paid
Withdrawal Policy
- Field Trips: Some trips are compulsory or optional and billed separately with advance notice. Subject to change.
- Exam Fees: MYP and Diploma exam fees are billed separately based on IB charges.
- Personal Computer: MYP and DP students must have a personal computer with MacOS or Windows, MS Office, browser and antivirus.
Other Education Costs
- No cash payments are accepted.
- Payments must be made by bank deposit, transfer, or M-Pesa.
- Parents must ensure payments are sent to the correct Academy bank account.
- Any bank account changes will be communicated in writing.
- Proof of payment including student name and ID must be sent to mba-bursar@agakhanacademies.org to avoid delays.
- Terms may change; contact the finance office for updates.
Payment Guidelines
The school may share student information (contact, attendance, fees, etc.) with third parties for normal operations or fee collection purposes.

Financial Assistance
We welcome applications from students of all socio-economic backgrounds who satisfy the requirements for entry. We aim to offer partial to full financial aid to accepted students with demonstrated need. Financial aid awards are reviewed annually and renewed only after reassessment of financial need. Raphael Mwachiti: Using technology to advance the community
Raphael Mwachiti, a DP student at AKA Mombasa, joined in 2015 on a full scholarship through the Talent Identification Programme. Inspired to give back, he created a device to assist the visually impaired, winning the Ryerson Sandbox Basecamp prize and a CAD $5,000 grant.

Mwanapwani Said from Msambweni, Kwale County, joined AKA Mombasa in 2017 on a full scholarship through the Talent Identification Programme. Embracing every opportunity, she excelled academically and in sports, particularly football.
