About Us

We select a diverse group of students with exceptional academic and leadership potential, offering financial assistance where needed. We offer them a world-class International Baccalaureate (IB) education on a residential campus with outstanding facilities, preparing them for leadership.

“An education must equip students with the tools that enable them to adapt and thrive, in a world characterised by change. Education that prepares children for life must go beyond fundamental skills to stimulate creativity, intellectual curiosity and honest inquiry."

His Late Highness Aga Khan IV

Foreword to Excellence in Education, Aga Khan Academies, 2003

A Rigorous Education in a Student-Focused Environment

We provide a challenging IB education for Kindergarten to upper secondary students, incorporating academics, sports and cultural activities. The student-centred programme gives them an understanding of global issues, a sense of civic responsibility and the skills to become ethical and effective leaders. Find out more about our programme.

From Grade 6 onwards, our students can take advantage of a unique residential programme, enjoying community life in a multicultural environment.

Our Network

We are part of the global, integrated network of Aga Khan Academies, established by His Late Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV. The Academies are part of the Aga Khan Schools, an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). Our partners include government bodies, development agencies and universities, as well as the IB itself.

Our Values

We encourage applications from students with academic and leadership potential, regardless of their family income. We offer them a pluralistic learning community with an international outlook, preparing them to work with diverse teams on global issues. Our graduates also have a strong sense of belonging to their communities, learning in Portuguese as well as English, and taught by experienced staff drawn mostly from Mozambique.

We emphasise leadership and community service throughout the programme, giving students considerable practical experience in problem-solving and creative thinking to improve the world around them. Learn about our values.
