Extended essay coordinator recognised as Honorable Mention by Turnitin
Prashant PandeyPrashant Pandey, a physics, chemistry and theory of knowledge teacher, as well as the extended essay coordinator, was recognised as an Honorable Mention as part of the Turnitin Global Innovation Awards for Africa and the Middle East for 2018.
Turnitin is an online originality checking and plagiarism prevention service. It helps schools teach students how to avoid citation mistakes and inappropriate copying by providing tools to prevent plagiarism and engage students in the writing process.
Prashant was recognised in the “Excellence in Academic Integrity Award 2018” category. He actively works toward achieving academic integrity and originality at the Academy, as he told Turnitin.
“The overall goal is that we become a school where students understand the meaning of being ethically correct when they are going to universities,” Prashant said. “Our job is to prepare students such that when they go beyond school, they can present work which is free of plagiarism.”

The Aga Khan Academy Mombasa proudly celebrated the graduation of its Class of 2025 on Saturday, 24 May. This year’s ceremony recognised 79 students from around the world, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, India, Pakistan, Canada and the United States, who marked the culmination of their International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme journey. Prior to the ceremony, the graduates gathered for the pinning ceremony. Following this, the graduation ceremony commenced in the Commons building. Head of Academy Colin Webster delivered the opening remarks, emphasising the importance of ethical leadership and the graduates' readiness to contribute positively to society.
