Service Learning
From an early age, our students learn to care about the people and environment around them. They put their theoretical learning into practice through sustainable work on local community projects, whether partnering with local organisations, working with branches of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) or initiating their own projects.
Community Outreach
Core to the vision and mission of the Aga Khan Academies is that students should be developed in terms of their values of giving back and contributing to the communities in which they live. This short film follows a group of students from the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, who formed the group STEM for Growth to mentor younger students at a local school and help them gain higher achievement levels and greater confidence through hands-on experiments and activities.
Green Club for Sustainability
“The Green Club is a student-led initiative dedicated to reducing plastic pollution, promoting sustainability and combating climate change in alignment with the Aga Khan Development Network’s environmental goals and the 2030 Paris Agreement.
The club organises activities such as awareness rallies, campus trash collections and book donation drives to encourage eco-friendly practices. These initiatives promote long-term sustainability by inspiring habits of recycling, reusing and upcycling.
Students not only learn about environmental stewardship but also internalise the Academy’s core values of service, responsibility and ethical citizenship. By leading awareness campaigns and community actions, members develop teamwork, leadership and compassion – recognising that small, consistent efforts can lead to meaningful global impact and a more sustainable future.”

Crochet for Care and Change
“Care Well, co-founded by alumnus and medical observer Karthik Pasham with Dr Rahul Reddy Levaka of Apollo Hospitals, began through a collaboration with the Academy’s Crochet Club, launched by students Ashmi Saban, Nisso Prasun and Ayra Farishta.
The club’s creative textile work inspired Care Well to bring comfort and healing through crochet and macramé to oncology patients at Apollo Hospitals. Building on this collaboration, the initiative partnered with Karkinos Healthcare to host an on-campus mammogram drive, raising awareness about breast cancer and early detection among staff.
Through this meaningful partnership, the Academy’s students and alumni have shown how creativity can blend with compassion and healthcare to make a real difference, reflecting the school’s vision of service, empathy and community well-being.”
