Building Well-being and Supportive Connections

Personal, social and health education, or PSHE, is an integral part of AKA Hyderabad’s Middle Years Programme, supporting students’ social, emotional and ethical development and helping them lead balanced, healthy lives.

In a PSHE workshop titled “Managing Emotions”, students in Grades 6–12 learnt the importance of pausing, reflecting and developing practical strategies to understand and respond to their feelings. Through role plays, discussions, games and more, they explored how emotions evolve with age, shape identity and influence relationships, as well as constructive ways to cope during challenging moments.

The sessions also strengthened peer connections, fostering trust and support, and reminded students that they are never alone – friends, teachers and the school community are always there to listen and help.

Growing Into Leadership, Service and Purpose

"AKA Hyderabad is where I discovered who I am and who I want to become. I learnt that success is not only about personal achievement but about uplifting others along the way."

As School President and Secretary-General of the Academy’s Model United Nations, I practised ethical leadership, guided my peers and helped create spaces where different perspectives are respected. Through initiatives such as ‘Empower Her’, ‘Dareecha’ and ‘Teach for India’, I understood the transformative power of education and strengthened my commitment to social justice and service, earning the Academy’s Book of Excellence award.

On the field, playing football and organising the Residential Football League taught me resilience, teamwork and community spirit. Additionally, music and dance gave me creative ways to connect and express myself."

Building Character at the Academy

"AKA Hyderabad has been a special place for me. It is not just about studying, but about learning to think, explore and grow in many ways. The teachers genuinely care and encourage us to do our best while giving us the freedom to express ourselves and follow our interests.

I appreciate how the Academy values creativity, collaboration and leadership. The environment is open, inclusive and welcoming, and I have met people from diverse backgrounds, offering new perspectives and helping me see the world differently.

What makes the Academy meaningful is its focus on learning and character, challenging me to step out of my comfort zone while supporting me when needed. Being here has helped me become confident, reflective and aware of the world and has helped me grow not only as a student but as a person."

A Place That Shapes My Heart and Mind

"For me, AKA Hyderabad is truly a happy place because it shaped who I am today, far beyond academics. Every day is about growing as a person – learning to reflect, improve and try things I once found difficult.

The environment has helped me develop empathy, ethical leadership and effective communication. From playing the saxophone to being a Peer Tutor, the Academy has given me many opportunities to discover my strengths and become a lifelong learner. Leading a ‘Teach for India’ project, teaching public-speaking and debate skills to students from under-resourced schools, showed me that education is about compassion, confidence and creating change.

The Academy is not just my school; it has helped me become kinder, more aware and purposeful, making it a truly special, happy place in my life."

Empowered to Excel Globally

Bhaavik Mamidala, a Class of 2025 alumnus, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in physics at the University of Notre Dame in the US with a scholarship of $67,900 per year. He credits AKA Hyderabad for empowering him to reach this milestone by nurturing his intellectual curiosity, resilience and global outlook.

Transitioning from a state school to the IB curriculum, he found the Academy’s holistic education and the Aga Khan Curricular Strands instrumental in helping him overcome challenges while fostering independence and critical thinking.

Through its commitment to lifelong learning and service, the Academy shaped his passion for academic research and inspired him to view education to create impact. Bhaavik believes the Academy not only shaped his academic journey but also his values of empathy, inclusion and purposeful leadership.
