Residential Life
Students enjoy a warm and supportive campus environment within a culture based on respect, integrity, honesty, fairness, empathy and good humour. Our excellent facilities are set within surroundings designed to offer students all they need to learn and grow.
Residential Experience at AKA Dhaka
Through a supportive environment, residential students at AKA Dhaka learn how to become more independent, form strong bonds with their residential families and participate in service projects with community partners.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Many of the most important elements of an education – the development of practical leadership skills, the capacity to make ethical judgments and the ability to navigate through complex cultural settings – are formed outside the classroom. Mealtimes and other gatherings provide the opportunity for students to talk, study and relax with each other. Our residential programme enables them to continue building these connections with others, as well as to take advantage of the facilities and activities on offer.
We offer students the opportunity to become proficient in creative and physical activities as well as in their academic studies and service projects. Find out more about the sports, expression activities and service learning elements of student life.
A Home From Home
We host our students on a secure campus, with appropriate safeguards on and off-site. They learn independence in many ways, from time management to doing their laundry, but have a supportive system of advisors, dorm parents and other staff to rely on, and plenty of opportunity to communicate with their families.

“The experiences at the residences are amazing. The residential parents are supportive, kind and helpful. One thing I have learnt while living in the residences at AKA Maputo is that you build a bond with everyone on campus.”

Never-ending adventures through the residences
“The residential programme at AKA Maputo consists of students from different places coming together for better study experiences where we learn new skills, gain knowledge and build relationships with each other. I have had a great and memorable experience so far. In the residences, students are allocated a room with three additional roommates and each person has their own study table and closets and drawers for their belongings. We have a common room where students can watch TV, play games, have snacks and much more. As a residential student, our day begins early around 6 am. We get ready, have breakfast and attend school from 7.45 am to 2.45 pm, with two breaks in between for snacks and lunch. After school the residential students have study time from 3 to 4 pm, followed by a free time to relax, communicate with their parents, play sports or use the gym facilities. We then have dinner at 6.15 pm with the residential parent in charge and an additional study or free time with a snack break afterward and lights out at 9.30 pm. On Fridays and Saturdays, we are taken to our religious places of worship and on Sundays, we go off-campus for excursions. Overall, the experiences at the residences are amazing. The residential parents are supportive, kind and helpful. One thing I have learned while living in the residences at AKA Dhaka is that you build a bond with everyone on campus.”
