AKA Dhaka participates in basketball tournament

AKA Dhaka’s basketball team participated in a tournament at the Pledge Harbor International School in Dhaka. The event brought together student-athletes from four schools around Dhaka. One of the highlights was the three intense games where the AKA Dhaka basketball team players played against teams from older age groups.

AKA Dhaka participated in the largest inter-school chess tournament of the year – Marks Active School Chess Champs – where bright young minds across 64 districts competed against each other. School-based teams initially played at the district level, with the winning teams then taking part in the divisional level.

The Aga Khan Academy Dhaka Inter-School Football Tournament 2025 brought renewed energy to the Academy’s field as schools across Dhaka gathered for two days of competitive play in December. Building on the strong foundation of previous years, the tournament brought together young athletes in a competitive yet collegial environment, reaffirming the Academy’s commitment to holistic education through sport.

The world as their classroom: learning through field trips

Excitement filled the air across the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka as students from Grade 6 to Diploma Programme (DP) 2 packed their bags and set off on grade-level field trips, which took learning far beyond the classroom. Though the destinations varied from forest camps to cultural centres, the purpose remained the same across all grade levels – to learn through adventure, reflection and meaningful connection. Each journey offered students the chance to grow academically, socially and personally, in line with the holistic ethos of the Academy’s academic programme.

Opening day of the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka
The Aga Khan Academy Dhaka, an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), opened its doors for the first time to 575 students. The long-awaited moment was met with anticipation, excitement and joy as students explored their new 17-acre, state-of-the-art, award-winning campus.

From eggs to butterflies, seeds to trees – our Grade 1 students took us on a journey through the fascinating cycles of life!  Through models, diagrams and creative storytelling, students showcased their understanding of how living things grow and change and what connects them all. A wonderful display of curiosity, inquiry and reflection in action!
