Kudos to the AKA, Hyderabad Junior School Athletic Teams!

The victorious girls team poses for a group photoOn 5th and 6th November 2015, 13 girls and 11 boys from the Junior School participated in the fifth IB PYP Hyderabad Network Sports Fest 2015-2016 held at Sreenidhi International School.

The Junior School students came out in flying colours, with the team winning a total of 31 medals (eight gold, fifteen silver, and eight bronze), and the girls team emerging as the Team Champions. Thanisha Dharani and Garv Joshi also clinched the title of Best Athlete of the Meet in Grade 4 Girls and Grade 4 Boys categories respectively.

Students take their place on the winners podium to receive their awardsParticipants were trained and selected during their PE lessons, based on their running speed and stamina. The students took part in the 100m, 200m and 400m relays, long jump, shot put, and the 4-by-100m relay. In addition to their PE lessons, the athletes also devoted an hour every morning to train in the week prior to the fest.

We are very proud of our athletes, and it is a real credit to the school that the best athlete in both categories went to our school! The trophy for the Girl’s Team will be displayed in the Junior School library, and we look forward to celebrating even more sporting achievements during the rest of this academic year.
