Teachers at the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad's Junior School have been continuously engaged in their professional development with the learning community both within the Academy and outside in the global professional networks. Unabated by the challenges of distance learning, the JS team has been regularly attending in-house professional development sessions led by the JS Principal Sreelatha Kumar and the Primary Years Programme Coordinator (PYP) Chloe Hill, to review the curriculum, reflect on new pedagogical practices, reinforce their understanding and apply the enhancements in the PYP in practice.

"As a recent recruit to the AKA Hyderabad, albeit with extensive experience in the PYP, I am fascinated by the leadership team's commitment to build and nurture our understanding through nano PDs and mini workshops," Grade 4 teacher Anuradha Choudhuri said. "During my four weeks here I have attended one session on 'Assessments' and another on 'Understanding by Design'. I have discovered that 'Learning and Growing' seems to be the mantra at AKA Hyderabad."

The JS leadership team has been attending the 8-hour long global professional development session, 'From Empathy to Impact', by Inspire Citizen, an independent organisation providing professional development training programmes. The team has also been leading vertical collaboration sessions and mini professional development sessions sourced by the International Baccalaureate. JS teachers have also been attending webinars and conferences to perpetuate their learning, such as 'Conceptual Understanding in PE' or 'Making Math Moments That Matter: Virtual Summit'.
